DutyWatchman

For Shopify stores shipping abroad

See where Shopify guessed your HS code.

When a product has no HS code, Shopify can pick one at checkout to work out duties. DutyWatchman shows you which orders that happened on, which products have no HS code or country of origin, and how complete your customs data is.

#1002, Canvas Tote: no code on the product, Shopify used 9503002190. Open the product and add the code you want to use.

What it checks

  • Your catalog: what share of shipped variants has an HS code and a country of origin, with a list of the gaps, biggest sellers first.
  • Your orders: where the code used at checkout differs from the one on the product, or the product had none. This needs duties collected at checkout, and the app tells you plainly when it cannot check.
  • EU product identifiers: how many variants have a SKU and a barcode.

What it does not do

DutyWatchman is read-only and changes nothing in your store. It reports missing or differing codes. It does not tell you whether a code is legally correct or how much duty should have been charged, and it is not customs advice.
